East Ridge at Cutler Bay has announced the life plan retirement community has launched a new podcast series, “East Ridge at Cutler Bay Connections.”
Each episode will feature a guest who is either an associate or resident at the community.
They are interviewed by Chris MacLellan, MA, who has been producing podcasts since 2013 and moderates their conversations.
“‘East Ridge at Cutler Bay Connections’ is an opportunity for people to tell their stories in their own words,” said Mary Scott Russell, director of Community Relations. “Their authenticity is simply captivating. We are so excited to begin this series as part of our marketing efforts.
“Using this new media to expand East Ridge’s reach and share these fascinating stories is so important. East Ridge offers such a vibrant lifestyle, and we’re excited to be able to connect listeners with our guests who have a wealth of stories. These may be inspirational as well as offer tips and advice,” she added.
The first episode of “East Ridge at Cutler Bay Connections” features an interview with Ken Cormier, who has been the community’s executive director since 2017. His leadership has led the community through crisis situations, including the coronavirus pandemic as well as Hurricane Irma in 2017. The Louisiana native shares insights into his typical and nontypical day at the life plan community.
According to Russell, the silver lining during these uncertain times has been finding new ways to share the community’s stories through different channels. Adult children and prospective residents aren’t necessarily visiting a community in-person because spontaneously stopping in isn’t practical.
A study from the Pew Research Center found more than half of all adults 65 and older report using the internet, and researching senior living communities typically starts by using the Web. Podcasts offer an opportunity to reach this consumer.
Upcoming guests to “East Ridge at Cutler Bay Connections” include East Ridge Town Council president Linda Sankpill, a successful romance writer who helped residents write a round-robin type of novel during the community’s COVID-19 shutdown.
Romance will be in the air with an interview with Roberta and Gene Patterson, a couple who met and married at East Ridge in 2018. They’ll share their romantic story about finding love later in life.
The podcasts are available on the East Ridge website, www.EastRidgeatCutlerBay.com, and on popular podcast platforms including Apple, Google, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Stitcher, TuneIn, and Amazon.
