Today, the Biden-Harris administration announced an additional $9 billion in student debt relief through income-driven repayment and the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. Since October 2021, the Biden-Harris administration has cleared over $6.5 billion in student debt for over 100,000 Floridians — the second largest balance in the nation. In response, the Florida Democratic Party has issued the following statement:
“Thanks to the Biden-Harris administration, tens of thousands of Floridians have received student loan relief,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “For decades, hard-working Floridians have been burdened with crippling amounts of debt from their pursuit of a better life.
“President Biden and Vice President Harris recognize that the only way our economy can move forward is by making education a ticket to a brighter future — not an impossible burden on families. These student debt forgiveness numbers are just another reason that we need to re-elect them to finish the job in 2024.”
