The 52nd Annual Orange Bowl Prayer Breakfast is live and in person! Players and Coaches of Clemson University and the Tennessee Volunteers are invited to be encouraged before the Capital One Orange Bowl game. Previously, the prayer breakfast only supported the Miami Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), but in 2021 expanded to include FCA Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Each year, Orange Bowl festivities include the Prayer Breakfast, during which FCA recognizes the student-athletes and coaches that are committed to making a difference on and off the field.
This year, the Prayer Breakfast is back at Signature Grand in Davie and strengthens the tri-county directors’ collaboration to significantly impact the communities served. Moving 10 minutes north of the previous location puts the event in a better position, with better amenities at South Florida’s premier event venue: a 20,000 sq. ft. Grand Ballroom to accommodate event growth, 12 acres of free parking, and easily accessed from major highways. This location shift also aligns FCA better with the vision of the Orange Bowl’s tri-county presence.
“The tri-county team – Jerry Beverly (jbeverly@fca.org), Desmond Cook (dcook@fca.org), and Greg Anderson (ganderson@fca.org) – have all made a significant impact in their respective areas, and now more than ever they are collaborating to maximize the ministry opportunities we have in that region. We are excited for the future,” said FCA National President Shane Williamson.
Now’s the time to consider being a sponsor of the annual event and strategically placing your company/brand in front of a thousand+ attendees gathered by faith, football, and fellowship. Most importantly, your support will also allow Coaches and Athletes in the FCA community to attend the OB Prayer Breakfast at no cost to them.

The 2022 keynote speaker, Twan Russell, of UM and NFL fame, is a South Florida native whose athletic career has come full circle. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Ft. Lauderdale, where he played football and ran track and field.
Twan went on to play college football with the Miami Hurricanes, where he led the team in tackles and was named Special Teams Captain.
In the 5th round of the 1997 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Washington Redskins. He also played with Atlanta Falcons and was a linebacker with the Miami Dolphins. After football, Twan served as Director of the Miami Dolphins’ Youth and Community Programs. He is also the founder of the Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation, Inc., whose mission is to inspire and equip underserved children and their families with the tools for continued success. He’s now back at St. Thomas Aquinas as the Athletic Director.
Founded in 1954, FCA has chapters in 107 countries and leads 20,948 certified huddles worldwide. “We lead Bible studies for coaches and coordinate chaplains to serve with their teams,” said Jerry Beverly, FCA’s South Florida Director, which serves Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Formed in 1974, this chapter currently has 26 school & college campuses. Broward County has 25 high school and college campuses, and there are 27 in Palm Beach County, with twice as many available for growth.
FCA strives to turn the negative tide of what’s happening in the world within the youth, schools, and sports. “There’s nothing more rewarding in my life than what we get to do,” says Desmond Cook, Broward Director & FAU Chaplain. Palm Beach Director Greg Anderson shares that “the ministry to the Coaches is the highlight for me. It’s to and through the Coach.”
“The Prayer Breakfast is a great opportunity to shine the light on the work FCA is doing with our youth in the community and to those individuals who are committed to making a difference in young people’s lives,” Beverly added. The 2022 Prayer Breakfast will continue to present the Bobby Bowden Coach of the Year award to a deserving coach who displays FCA values of Teamwork, Integrity, Excellence, and Serving.
The doors open at 7:30 am with a coffee reception, and the program will begin at 8 am.
