Formula E, with support from South Florida Motorsports (SFM), hosted students from the local Miami Gardens community at the Miami International Autodrome, delivering a full slate of STEM-focused community programming on Friday, January 30. Joined by City of Miami Gardens Councilman Reggie Leon, students participated in hands-on learning experiences designed to spark interest in science, technology, engineering, sustainability and careers of the future.
As part of its commitment to placing STEM at the heart of the Miami E-Prix, Formula E and SFM teamed up to deliver race week initiatives prioritizing access, education and long-term opportunity. This included a nearly $30,000 Better Futures Fund investment from Formula E to Miami EdTech’s STEM in Motion program supporting 60 underrepresented young women through EV engineering activities, mentorship and exposure to electric racing.
Additional programming included Driving Force presented by PIF E360, which delivered two in-school STEM and sustainability workshops and Formula E’s first-ever at-track workshop, while continuing to provide free lesson plans for educators across Florida. Up to 275 students participated in an enhanced Formula E Community Tour featuring a half-day track experience with a pit lane walk, gaming arena access and viewing of Free Practice 1. An immersive FIA Girls on Track discovery day engaged 120 young women ages 12–18 through workshops, simulators, e-karting, career talks and behind-the-scenes access supported by Formula E Global Partner Hankook, including four participants joining the podium ceremony.
Formula E and SFM share the mission of expanding STEM learning opportunities, leveraging the excitement and innovation of racing to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers and motorsports professionals.
