‘Future of News’ Summit at UM convenes global media leaders
The event brought together CEOs, editors-in-chief, media executives, and technology innovators for a series of keynote conversations and panel discussions.

YPO United Mosaic recently convened senior leaders from global media, technology, and journalism organizations at the University of Miami’s Robert and Judi Prokop Newman Alumni Center for the “Future of News,” a one-day summit examining how journalism is evolving amid rapid technological change, artificial intelligence, shifting audience behavior, and new business models.

The event brought together CEOs, editors-in-chief, media executives, and technology innovators for a series of keynote conversations and panel discussions exploring how trust, platforms, and AI are reshaping the next era of journalism.

Speakers included Rashida Jones, former president of MSNBC; Goli Sheikholeslami, CEO of Politico; Dev Pragad, CEO of Newsweek; Jon Miller, former CEO of AOL and News Corp; Ami Gan, former CEO of OnlyFans; Matt Brown, CEO of PR Newswire; Greg Galant, CEO of Muck Rack; John Avlon, former editor-in-chief of The Daily Beast; Eric Gertler, chair and CEO of U.S. News & World Report; David Carey, SVP of Hearst Corporation; Renata Afonso, former president of CNN Brazil; Rafa Urbina, president of ViX at TelevisaUnivision; Cynthia Hudson, former senior vice president of CNN Español; John Rossiter, managing director of Sony Latin America; Faizaan Baig, CFO of Tucker Carlson Network; Elizabeth Green, CEO of The Civic News Company; Rodrigo Gonzales, CEO of Neewz.AI; Jonathan Blum, former president of Cisneros Media, and Luis Fernández, chair of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises.

Throughout the day, speakers addressed the profound transformation underway across the global news ecosystem. Discussions focused on rebuilding public trust in a fragmented information environment, the growing influence of social and data platforms in shaping narratives, and the responsibility of media organizations to safeguard credibility in the age of user-generated content and algorithm-driven distribution.

Participants also explored the emergence of new economic models for journalism beyond traditional advertising and headline-driven engagement, as well as the shift from “breaking news” to more dynamic, continuously evolving forms of storytelling sometimes described as “living news.”

“This summit demonstrated that the future of journalism will be shaped not only by technology but by leadership, credibility, and collaboration,” said Jordan Kavana, chapter vice chair of YPO United Mosaic. “Bringing together leaders from across newsrooms, platforms, and emerging technology companies created a meaningful dialogue about how the industry can evolve while preserving the values that sustain public trust.”

As the main sponsor of the event, Neewz.AI showcased how AI-powered verification and credibility technologies can help media organizations combat misinformation while preserving editorial standards and journalistic integrity.

The summit concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Nir Ben Lavi, who synthesized key insights from the day into leadership principles and strategic priorities for building resilient and trusted news organizations in the years ahead.
