Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) President & CEO William D. Talbert III, CDME, has announced the appointment of John Copeland as director of Cultural Tourism.

“We are excited to have John join the GMCVB team,” Talbert said. “His wealth of experience, strategic thinking and strong ties to our local arts and culture community gives him a head start in further expanding the GMCVB’s marketing efforts to attract more visitors to our destination’s diverse mosaic of arts and culture assets.”

The GMCVB director of Cultural Tourism is responsible for the development and implementation of cultural tourism programs that increase global awareness of Greater Miami’s vibrant and flourishing arts and culture offerings, and helps drive incremental attendance at local arts and culture institutions, events and attractions found throughout our community of multicultural heritage neighborhoods.

Additional responsibilities include integration of cultural content into all GMCVB marketing programs and platforms and serve as the principle liaison with the local arts and culture community through proactive engagement. This position also plays a supportive role in identifying and securing art and culture centric meetings and conventions for the community.

Prior to joining the GMCVB, Copeland was the senior director for Corporate Giving at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, a position he held after successfully fulfilling his role as marketing director. Before joining the Arsht Center Team, he worked as project administrator for Miami-Dade County Cultural Affairs, and in Tampa he held the position of program coordinator for the Americans for the Arts’ National Arts Marketing Project.

Copeland is a graduate of Georgia College & State University, Milledgeville, GA where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education. He serves on the board of directors of the Miami Music Project and Arts & Business Council of Miami.

The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) is a non-profit independent sales and marketing organization with a mission to attract visitors to Greater Miami and the Beaches for leisure, business and conventions.
