Grand Bahama is a Wonderland

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I’m in Grand Bahama Island feeding the pigs and I haven’t been happier.

This is just one of the things I did recently on my whirlwind trip to this oasis that is only 55 miles from Miami. It took only 45 minutes by plane, which was short and sweet.

Flying in I could see the powder white sands, nature preserves and emerald-green seas. What I learned is that Grand Bahama is great for kayaking, dolphin watching and eco-adventures that include safaris, scuba, bike tours and more.

I just got back got around with care thanks to H. Forbes Charters. Chris was our driver and he knew everything about the island and all the great things we could do.

At Grand Lucayan, it was a great balance between the luxuries of a modern-day resort and the great culture of Bahamian culture. There is the beautiful Lighthouse Pointe resort, an 18-hole golf course and waterfront destinations where weddings are planned for all tastes and sizes.

Lucayan National Park, established in 1982, protects one of the world’s longest charted underwater cave systems and a combination of pine forests, mangroves, creeks and coral reefs, as well as global draw, Gold Rock Beach. Lucayan National is now the Bahamas’ second most visited national park.

With Unexso, I swam with the dolphins in The Dolphin Experience lagoon, which was so much fun.

We also learned about and enjoyed Garden of the Groves, Dead Man’s Reef, Port Lucaya Straw Market and Fish Fry Wednesday, which were all amazing.

No question spend a half a day at Paradise Cove It was Great > It was fantastic! You start by meeting the family owned business Barry and his son Jaydin are beautfiul people. The safety presentation was informative and helped us know what was out there. We were thrilled by all the sea turtles and parrot fish. and the beautiful reefs I got to see. This Place is a winner !

We created great memories thanks to Celebrity Eco Adventures, which organizes everything from beach volleyball to guided snorkel tours of the beautiful reef that is chock full of tropical fish. We also got a chance to meet the native Bahamian pigs including Peppa, Maya, Pinky and Wilbur.

We also benefited from our experience with West End Ecology Tours with Keith Cooper, who taught us about the native flora, birds and sea life. The mangroves serve as havens for fish, migratory birds and the underwater reef system. Keith also got us up close to its stingray experience, which made me look at this unique and misunderstood animal in a whole different way.

Keith Cooper Is the Man.

My time in the Bahamas was full of great memories that will stay with me forever. The bright colors, animals and great culture created a wonderful environment to enjoy all the best things that the Bahamas have to offer.

I’ll definitely be visiting again soon.
