The Orange Blossom Classic Committee officially launched the countdown to the 2025 Invesco QQQ Orange Blossom Classic with a high-energy press conference held in Miami, Florida. The event brought together city leaders, corporate sponsors, university representatives, and media for a first look at this year’s highly anticipated matchup and official schedule of events.

Returning to Hard Rock Stadium over Labor Day Weekend, the 2025 Invesco QQQ Orange Blossom Classic will once again shine a national spotlight on HBCU excellence. This year’s theme, Built on History. Fueled by Pride., honors the enduring legacy of the Classic while celebrating the future of HBCU athletics, culture, and community impact.

“This weekend is more than a game—it’s a tradition, a reunion, and a platform for purpose,” said Kendra Bulluck-Major, Executive Director of the Orange Blossom Classic. “We’re proud to once again host a dynamic lineup of events that bring together students, alumni, families, and fans to experience the legacy of HBCUs in living color.”

This year’s matchup will feature two storied HBCU football programs: Howard University and Florida A&M University (FAMU), reigniting a classic rivalry on one of college football’s biggest stages.

“The Orange Blossom Classic means more than just football—it’s about legacy, opportunity, and pride. Our players understand they’re not just representing FAMU; they’re carrying the torch of every Rattler who came before them. We’re honored to compete on this national stage and excited to showcase our culture, our discipline, and our pride to the world,” said James Colzie III, Head Football Coach at Florida A&M University.

“As a Florida native, this is a full-circle moment for me – bringing my team back to South Florida. I know the special significance of the Orange Blossom Classic to HBCU football and our culture and it’s an honor to be a part of this historic Black college football game. I look at games like this as an opportunity to put our young men on a platform that not only reflects the talent and pride of HBCUs, but also allows them to see what it’s like to play on an NFL field –  something that these young men will carry with them for years and years to come. This is more than a game; it’s a moment to celebrate our culture, uplift our institutions, and support our student-athletes,” said Larry Scott, Howard University Head Coach.

Each year, the OBC brings thousands of fans, students, alumni, and families to South Florida, creating a platform for cultural celebration, economic impact, and generational legacy. From career-building events and leadership forums to lively social gatherings and game-day energy, the weekend offers something for everyone. Here’s a look at the official lineup of events planned for the 2025 Invesco QQQ Orange Blossom Classic.

        ABOUT THE ORANGE BLOSSOM CLASSIC
Founded in 1933 by J.R.E. Lee Jr., son of Florida A&M University’s president, the inaugural Orange Blossom Classic welcomed 2,000 fans to a “blacks-only” ballpark in Jacksonville, Florida—where FAMU defeated Howard 9-0, establishing the foundation of HBCU classics. After a 43-year hiatus, the Classic was re-established in 2021 with a mission to increase exposure and access for HBCUs. Now in its fifth year, the OBC draws thousands of fans, students, alumni, and families to South Florida, celebrating culture, competition, and the future of Black excellence.
