During the February Special Council Presentation Ceremony, Homestead Mayor Steven D. Losner celebrated the local youth league Lumade Volleyball Club for their accomplishments at the Florida Invitational Showcase in Ft. Lauderdale.

The teams and their coaches spent countless hours in the gym training to excel in their sport. All of the sweat equity they put in was not in vain as the three teams in the competition placed. The 14’s struck gold, the 17’s crushed silver, and the 15’s brought home the bronze.

“These young women are already taking leadership roles in the field of play. I know one day they will be leaders of our community,” Mayor Losner said. “I am certain that in some upcoming summer Olympics we are going to see a lot of these young women representing our country with roots right here in Homestead.”

Mayor Losner presented each of the teams and their coaches with a certificate of achievement for their hard work and dedication that has brought pride to the Homestead community.

Lumade Volleyball Club was established with the goal of making a positive impact on the character and development of the youth while also teaching the sport of volleyball at the highest possible level. When the idea of the volleyball club was born, the team was practicing on a mulch volleyball court in one of the coaches’ backyards. From there they continued to grow and eventually found Homestead as their permanent home.

The Lumade Volleyball Club caters to boys and girls who not only want to advance and hone their skills, but also instill valuable lessons about life through youth sports.
