Coral Gables Hospital has named Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Station Secretary Isis Hernandez as Employee of the Year for her extraordinary commitment to staff, patients and their families.
Hernandez, who has devoted 27 years of service to Coral Gables, received her award at the hospital’s Star Service Ceremony.
Hernandez started at the hospital as a nursing assistant and was promoted to ICU station secretary a year later. In addition to her secretarial responsibilities of putting together admissions charts and notifying doctors of new patients, Hernandez is a monitor technician and checks patients’ blood pressure and heart rate.
She said she loves her job, and the best part is interacting with family members who call to check up on patients. Patients and staff rave about Hernandez’s bubbly personality and say she always is willing to go above and beyond to help patients and their family members.
