After more than four decades of inspiring South Florida and becoming one of the most recognizable voices for wildlife conservation in our community, Ron Magill is beginning a new chapter — one that keeps him close to the animals and the people who have supported his mission for generations.
Ron Magill, the longtime ambassador for Zoo Miami and a beloved figure across Miami-Dade County, is retiring from his official county role after an extraordinary career spanning more than 46 years. For nearly half a century, Magill has educated, entertained, and inspired millions through his passion for wildlife, conservation, and storytelling. From television appearances and community lectures to unforgettable encounters at Zoo Miami, his enthusiasm has made wildlife personal for families throughout South Florida and far beyond.
But this is not goodbye — it’s a transition.
Magill will now continue his work with the Zoo Miami Foundation, where he will focus on expanding conservation education, strengthening community engagement, and helping secure the future of one of our region’s most treasured institutions. His move ensures that his voice, experience, and energy remain deeply connected to Zoo Miami’s mission while allowing him new opportunities to grow conservation efforts through philanthropy and outreach.
To celebrate Ron’s remarkable career and this exciting next step, community leaders, elected officials, friends, and supporters are invited to a special breakfast honoring him on **Thursday, March 26, at 7:30 a.m.** at Casa Cuba.
The event promises to be more than just a farewell — it will be a celebration of a legacy built on passion, education, and a lifelong commitment to protecting wildlife. Those who know Ron understand that his presentations are never ordinary.
