At the School Board Meeting of April 17, 2024, School Board Member Luisa Santos proffered agenda item H-11, joining in promoting the College Fair and authorizing the Superintendent of Schools to encourage all Miami-Dade County Public Schools to participate in the “2025 Miami NACAC National College Fair” in March of 2025.
Continuing the legacy left behind by former School Board Chair Ms. Perla Tabares Hantman, who proposed a similar item annually during her tenure, and in alignment with the Post Secondary Success Framework proposed by School Board Member Luisa Santos at the Board Meeting of August 18, 2021, via agenda item H-10, this item recommends that the School Board join in promoting the College Fair across Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) hosts National College Fairs across the country. The 2024 Miami NACAC National College Fair provided students, parents, and community members the opportunity to meet with representatives from over 200 colleges around the world. Next year, the 2025 Miami National College Fair will further serve as a bridge between the Miami-Dade community and higher education opportunities.
The 2025 Miami National College Fair will host a variety of information sessions, led by professionals from the college admissions office, financial aid departments, and advisors who are there to support students and their parents navigate post-secondary planning. This event is traditionally held in March every year in Miami.
