WDNA 88.9F M proudly celebrates the 20th on-air anniversary of Majica and Mano P., two of South Florida’s most enduring voices in community radio.
Since 2005, Majica and Mano P. have captivated listeners with their genre-defying blend of world music, jazz, and sonic storytelling, first as hosts of the Latin Jazz Quarter and since 2011 as tag-team co-hosts of Global Gumbo with Majica and Mano P., billed as “South Florida’s only anything-goes world music radio show.” Known for their deep musical knowledge, eclectic taste, and authentic connection to the community, the duo has created more than just a radio show — they’ve built a weekly celebration of humanity’s limitless capacity for creativity.
“Twenty years feels like both a heartbeat and a lifetime,” says Majica. “We’ve shared stories, sounds, struggles, and celebrations with our community. It’s been a journey of growth, joy, and deep connection. Through it all, WDNA has allowed us the freedom to explore a mind-boggling variety of wild and wonderful music from around the world and around the corner.”
From spotlighting local talent to exploring global rhythms, their show has become a vital thread in Miami’s cultural fabric, pushing creative boundaries while nurturing a loyal, intergenerational audience. To commemorate this milestone, WDNA will host a special anniversary broadcast featuring guest appearances and a retrospective of historic on-air moments on Sunday, June 29, 2025 from 4 to 6 p.m.
“It’s never been about just spinning records,” says Mano P. “It’s about building something timeless — music as medicine, radio as ritual, songs as a celebration of the human spirit. Global Gumbo is a way to travel around the world in your imagination. A great groove can obliterate boundaries and unify people.”
Majica and Mano P. share more than just co-hosting duties. Since 1993, the pair have shared many stages as members of the world music band The Baboons. They are married and raising two teenagers who have grown up in the WDNA studio, absorbing diverse music since birth. It’s no surprise that their kids are open to sounds from every genre, according to Majica. “They like everything from A to Z, from afrobeat to zydeco,” she says. “Every flavor in the gumbo.”
