Formula One was a great accomplishment for us. This wonderful three-day event took place in May, and It was a great opportunity for many of our small businesses to make some money. The residents did a tremendous job showing their hospitality. It was an experience that a lot of people probably would never have seen in their lives, and it happened right here in Miami Gardens.

In the beginning, people were fighting it, but they eventually realized it wasn’t the bad experience some said it would be — ears weren’t bleeding, there were no pollution issues. It went off without a hitch. We didn’t have any problems and the entire City is now looking forward to next year’s Formula One.

Community Engagement
We have an event coming up with State Senator Shevrin Jones and Congresswoman Frederica Wilson where we’ll show people how to do business with the City. We had a Father’s Day event that turned out to be a huge success at our senior center. Juneteenth, the Bajas reunion and our poetry night are other events our residents have looked forward to. We are constantly moving and shaking, hosting activities for our seniors and ensuring the safety of our residents.

Speeding is a major issue throughout Miami-Dade County, but here in Miami Gardens, we’re trying to alleviate that situation. We’ve had two or three incidents already this past quarter where people lost their lives because of it. We want people to understand that, in the City of Miami Gardens, we’re not going to tolerate speeding. Lives are at stake, so follow the rules of the road and continue to look out for your fellow man.

Why Miami Gardens Is Where You Want To Be
Our new slogan is: “Miami Gardens, it’s where you want to be!” I believe that’s true for many reasons. We’re a rapidly growing City. We’re working to provide housing for our residents, we have new apartment complexes that are going up and we have lively events taking place. Following Formula One, we hope to attract more global events to our City. Our hospitality is great. We just opened up a Chipotle and it’s been packed since the day it opened.

We want people to come and be a part of this, we want our residents to enjoy what’s happening in Miami Gardens, and we want businesses to understand that they are our partners. Where else would you want to be? Come to Miami Gardens and enjoy what we have to offer.
