The Miami-Dade Expressway Authority’s Board (MDX) has announced that it will be mailing more than 60,000 checks to families and local businesses in time for the holidays. Those currently enrolled MDX Frequent Driver Rewards Program members who spent $100 or more on tolls for the use of MDX expressways during the period of July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2021 will receive a check for 15 percent of the amount they spent.
The reimbursements apply to tolls paid on the 836/Dolphin Expressway, 112/Airport Expressway, 874/Don Shula Expressway, 878/Snapper Creek Expressway and 924/Gratigny Parkway. The state-owned Turnpike, I-95 and Palmetto tolls are not eligible for reimbursement.
The MDX Governing Board established the Frequent Drivers Rewards Program to reduce tolls paid by daily commuters, and small local businesses.
To date, the Authority has paid its frequent customers $24 million since inception of the program in 2015. The average cash back has been $72 to commuters who regularly use MDX expressways. Many businesses benefit by receiving larger rebates that range anywhere between several hundred to several thousand dollars.
MDX also supports the freight industry and commerce by capping tolls to three axles, allowing cargo containers to ride free on MDX’s five local expressway, saving the industry more than $40 million. MDX also offers discounts in support of active duty military personnel.
Members not receiving their refund check by mid-December should contact MDX Customer Service at 305-637-3277, extension 5105.
There will be a new member registration period later this year or at the beginning of 2022.
