Hello Miramar Residents;
The Commissioner of the people Maxwell B. Chambers here, hoping you enjoyed a fantastic summer. My office worked hard to make sure our physical interaction with you was priority. Last summer, the pandemic hindered our ability to safely celebrate together, so this year we organized events that atoned for the past incapacities.
“In this journey adversity will come, but let those troubles and obstacles strengthen you”

ABUNDANT AUGUST
August was a wonderful busy, interactive yet productive month. As usual we operate our bi-weekly food distribution at the Miramar United Methodist Church. Every other Thursday we provide food to our residents in need. Please contact My office for more information (954) 602-3154.
Our annual National Night Out event had great turnouts throughout the city. If you weren’t able to join this years’ gatherings, please come out next year to meet our first responders and get up to date education regarding safety and security measures the City of Miramar fosters within our community. My infamous Popcorn and Snow Cone machines were exhausted by the end of the night.
We ushered our little scholars back to school by supporting a plethora of fun filled book bag giveaways. I was honored to be invited to a City of Miramar small businesses owner GAMER ROLLERS office located in Historical East Miramar where the company supplied children with stuffed bookbags and gave them the opportunity to enjoy their product niche of mobile video gaming. All local children were gifted hours of free gaming and food.
A book bag giveaway like no other….I supported and sponsored the Dreamcatchers Lotus back to school retreat. Family’s’ were treated to a back to school event like no other. The day included holistic education, healthy meals, mindfulness, yoga and stress management classes and workshops, where the main objective was to prepare our young scholars for a successful return to classes.
My on-going partnership with the Hope of society foundations held the Annual back to school health and community fair at the Emmanuel Apostolic Church. We provided Back to school supplies, and community booths for Dental care, school physical immunization, grocery distribution, food games and much more.
I am dedicated to advocating for our local residents in their quest to become entrepreneurs and was honored to be invited to a few of grand openings across the city. The ribbon cutting pics say it all.
A Great Moment .. On August 17, I Commissioner Maxwell B Chambers city of Miramar Along with the Rootz Foundation hosted a monumental event. We celebrated the 135th anniversary of Marcus Garveys’ birth and honored his legacy and achievements. The city of Miramar had a large turnout at the Miramar Multi-Purpose Complex. The Jamaican diaspora welcomed this event where his proclamation was well received based on the impact the Honorable Garvey had regarding the elevation of black people and his vision for equality worldwide.
Our diverse Miramar Community includes many Caribbeans and Latin culture. On Aug 10th Our Miramar Cultural Center has a concert in honor of Ecuadorian National Day. Our center was packed with theater filled is our Hispanic residents. A large percentage of our residents are from islands. Both Jamaica and Trinidad/Tobago celebrated their 60th celebration this year. Throughout the city we hosted many cultural events for Jamaica. On August 31st . Trinidad and Tobago celebrated 60 years of independence. I was happy to utilize our city plaza to commemorate this day. Many west Indians joined the festive evening, enjoying Trini cuisine, artifacts and a festive Steel Pan Ensemble.
