Hello MiramarIn July, our office hosted the second Annual Backpack event at Ansin Park at the start of the 2022 school year. Our goal is to provide and support the residents of this community while adding some fun for the children. We distributed book bags filled with supplies and held a Carnival Theme Event with games, cotton candy, popcorn, jugglers, acrobats, an area for grooming, barber tent and manicure station courtesy of Classic Stylez Barbershop and Xrossover Mobile Nails, and our Amazing Light Show.
Additional backpacks went to all the summer camps in Miramar that following week, ensuring that all the children had some of the necessary supplies and that you, the parents, did not have to purchase them for this school year.
In August, we held our Annual citizenship Drive at Vernon Hargray Youth Enrichment Center in partnership with Mayor Messam’s office. We assisted 110 persons complete the N400 applications. We must thank the volunteers, staff, and attorneys from the Jamaican American and Haitian Lawyer Bar Association for supporting us with this event; their time and expertise came at no cost to you on this day. Our office realizes there is a significant need for immigration support and citizenship in our community; another citizenship drive is in the planning stage for 2023.
My office has collaborated with the Police Department on a Contraband Search Program for Miramar Residents. The service is in place to have your recently purchased used car checked for any trace of narcotics that is not traceable with visual viewing. To find out more or schedule this Free Inspection, call 954-602-4123. In today’s environment, we want you to have peace of mind after purchasing a used vehicle.
We are into the last quarter of the year, the coming months for festivities. Remember, as you plan your celebration, don’t forget to adhere to road safety. When you are sitting in the back seat of your car, make sure to buckle up. It is as important if not more as when you are in the front seat. Passengers in the backseat often forget or think it is unnecessary; and in a blink of an eye, this can change yours and your family’s lives forever. Remember, seatbelts save lives.
