Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez is urging residents to obtain proper hunting and fishing licenses before heading outdoors, emphasizing that legal compliance protects both residents and Florida’s natural resources.
“Our role is to make it easy for residents to access services and stay in compliance with the law,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez. “We provide convenient access to hunting and fishing licenses at our offices, and we work closely with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to support their conservation efforts. We are not a regulatory or enforcement agency, but we take seriously our responsibility to help residents do things the right way.”
The Tax Collector’s Office provides access to a full range of state-issued hunting and fishing licenses, including freshwater, saltwater, and hunting permits. Licenses are available at all 13 Tax Collector Offices across Miami-Dade County or online through the State’s official licensing system, making it simple and accessible for residents to comply before heading out.
“Our economy depends on protecting our natural environment. Miami-Dade is uniquely positioned between Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park, and that responsibility is real. When residents follow the law and get properly licensed, they are helping protect the resources that sustain our community and way of life.”
License fees directly support conservation programs, habitat protection, and wildlife management efforts across Florida.
“Unlicensed activity carries real consequences, including fines, penalties, and potential criminal charges,” Fernandez said. “More importantly, it undermines the conservation work that keeps Florida’s ecosystems strong. If you are going to hunt or fish, do it legally and responsibly.”
