Miami-Dade County to break ground on Wellspring Apartments, new senior affordable housing development in Opa-locka

On Wednesday, May 8, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Oliver G. Gilbert will celebrate the groundbreaking of Wellspring Apartments, a new senior affordable housing development in Opa-locka.

Hosted by Miami-Dade County’s Department of Public Housing and Community Development and Integral Florida, this groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of a transformative project for seniors aged 62 and older. Located at 14701 NW 27 Avenue, Opa-locka, FL 33054, in District 1, Wellspring Apartments will offer 99 affordable units, including 7 studios, 81 one-bedroom units, and 11 two-bedroom units. The development, funded by Miami’ Dade’s Affordable Housing Trust with $1 million, includes 67 units for residents below 50% of the area median income (AMI), and 32 units for those below 60% (AMI). The $33 million project features a 44,000-square-foot medical office and wellness center aimed at providing vital healthcare services to underserved communities.
