Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) celebrated the promotion of 51 firefighters during a department ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 16. The ceremony took place at MDFR’s Training Facility, 9300 NW 41 St. in Doral.
“Today we honor and recognize those who have emerged, through their dedication and initiative, as the future leaders of the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department,” said Fire Chief Dave Downey. “These members have embodied the core values of the fire service: integrity, honor, pride, respect, and valor. This is a day of celebration, recognition, and reflection of the great achievements of these members and the trust that is placed in the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department by the people of Miami-Dade County.”
The newly promoted individuals included one assistant chief, one medical director, four division chiefs, seven chief fire officers, 14 captains, 22 lieutenants, one Air Rescue pilot, two Air Rescue co-pilots and six civilian employees.
