As the holiday season approaches and children enjoy their well-deserved school breaks, and while adults eagerly prepare for festive gatherings, the City of Miami Gardens provides diverse activities to keep the community engaged and in great spirits.

This season, the Miami Gardens Parks and Recreation Department is promoting health, wellness, and fun through various in-person activities. There is something for everyone, from soccer to art, dance to photography, digital arts, and so much more. For the youngest residents, the City offers athletic programs such as soccer, baseball, gymnastics, dance, and even martial arts, alongside more hobby-based fun like art, photography, digital arts, and violin. Adults can partake in Zumba, High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), and step aerobics. Residents can also enjoy time in the pool with swimming and AquaFit classes.

The Senior Family Center offers an array of unique activities for seniors. The facility provides walking clubs, meditation and relaxation sessions, chair Pilates and yoga, Spanish classes, poetry and painting workshops, cinema and book clubs, bingo, computer classes, senior theater, and financial literacy classes. Visitors can also enjoy monthly special events and field trips.

Afterschool programs and Kids Day Off Camps are available on Teacher Planning days, and full Fall and Winter Camps are available for children in grades K-5 at A.J. King Park, Carol City Park, and Rolling Oaks Park, and grades 6-12 at Norwood Park.

Dr. Lester Brown Park and Bennett Lifter Park were reopened this summer with brand-new amenities. Bennett Lifter Park now boasts a new meeting room, state-of-the-art playground, outdoor basketball courts, and pavilions. Dr. Lester Brown Park’s upgrades include a new meeting space, concession area, playground, a walking trail, and an artificial turf football field, which has been utilized by high schools and college football and soccer teams for practice and games.
