The Miami Short Film Festival (MIAMIsFF), in partnership with Deering Estate, presents Focus On: Passport to the World! films on Sunday, September 25th. Enjoy a welcome cocktail and the screening of eleven short films. This event will take place indoors at the Deering Estate Theater.
The screening will begin at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Cocktail hour with cash bar and music from 6-7 p.m.

Fjord
Dir. by Skule Eriksen – Documentary – 24 min., Norway
Fjord is a personal interpretation of the landscape in Naeroyfjord in Western Norway, included in UNESCO’s World Heritage list of 2005. The film is poetic and rhythmic, following the shifting light and the turn of the seasons in this unique and dramatic landscape.
Afghan ’72

After finding 16mm reels in the attic of his parents’ house, a man discovers an improbable side of his father’s personality.
Caracas En Moto

Getaway to Kaohsiung

This music video aims to promote the tourism of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The song is about getting away from hassled life and traveling in Kaohsiung (southern city in Taiwan). The singer, Namewee, was in his “Moving Room” and traveled around Kaohsiung city. He meets different native citizens including aboriginals, tastes various local delicacies, and visits popular landmarks.
Living with Snow Leopards: Sainaa’s Story
Dir. by J. Joe Pontecorvo & Gayle Podrabsky – Documentary – 11 min., USA
Sainaa Sainbileg and her husband herd goats for their livelihood in a remote Yamaat Valley in Mongolia. They share their mountain home with killer predators, snow leopards and wolves. Sainaa has found a way to save the snow leopard from certain death if the cat kills their livestock.

The Miami short Film Festival is dedicated to promoting the short film genre, showcasing films from 1-25 minutes long. The Festival is international in scope, bringing exposure to the world’s best independent up-and-coming filmmakers.
About the Deering Estate
The Deering Estate is a 21st Century house museum, cultural and ecological field station, and a national landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places, owned by the State of Florida, and managed by Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department. 2022 marks the 100th anniversary of the construction of the Stone House, and along with our philanthropic partners, the Deering Estate Foundation & 100 Ladies of Deering, we will be hosting a series of events & programs in celebration of this momentous occasion.
