The Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO), under the direction of music director and conductor Eduardo Marturet, invites the community to the first concert of the 2018-19 season’s “Grand Season Opening” on Sunday, Oct 14, 6 p.m., at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Knight Concert Hall in Miami.

Maestro Marturet has put together MISO’s 30th season as a set of unique concerts that will enhance the community like never before.

The “Grand Season Opening” concert will begin with the world premiere of Orbits, a MISO 2018 commission, composed by Robert Tindle, four-time winner of the National Young Composers Challenge.

Then the audience will experience the artistry of the acclaimed New York pianist Mary Anne Huntsman performing the emblematic Concerto in F by American composer George Gershwin’.

The program will close with The Planets, one of the most sensational symphonic scores written by English composer Gustav Holst. The suite itself has seven movements with each one named after a planet as well as the astrological character that corresponds.

With its new headquarters in the Miami Design District, MISO reloads and expands its season with six free concerts at the Miami Design District’s Palm Court, Collins Park Bass Museum, and Doral Park and six concerts for subscribers and the general public at the Knight Concert Hall/Adrienne Arsht Center and at The Moore Building-Elastika in the Miami Design District.

Special highlights will be concerts at the Arsht Center/Knight Concert Hall: Ocean Drive in Vienna (Jan. 20), A ’60s Musical Journey with Rudy Perez and Friends (Mar. 17), and The Three B’s (Apr. 28). Also, shows at the Moore Building/Elastika in the Miami Design District: MISO-CHIC The Magic of Synesthesia (Dec. 16) and Sleepover at the Museum (Feb. 24).

Tickets available at: www.arshtcenter.org and www.themiso.org.
