Miramarvels Early Childhood program has participated in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record since its inception in 2006. Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is the world’s largest shared reading experience and celebrates and supports children’s early language and social-emotional development. The event– a day of celebration and fun– builds an intergenerational community through reading and raises awareness around the critical importance of early literacy and access to inclusive literature that fosters belonging and connection by reflecting children’s own experiences as well as showing the experiences of others.
Each year on the 3rd Thursday of October, Miramarvels Academies invite special guest readers to celebrate this once-a-year world-wide event and the City of Miramar’s elected officials and employees never let us down with volunteers! This year’s Read for the Record selection was With Lots of Love written by Jenny Torres Sanchez and illustrated by Andre’ Colin. With Lots of Love is a beautiful story about family, food, celebrations, and finding ways to stay connected with loved ones across distances.
