The Village of Palmetto Bay has announced that it will conduct an informational meeting on Nov. 30 to discuss the Old Cutler Neighborhood Commercial District.
The Palmetto Bay Community & Economic Development Department will conduct the meeting, having held workshops and meetings to discuss the proposed Old Cutler neighborhood zoning district since August.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the feedback received at those previous gatherings and explore options for changes that will make the neighborhood more user-friendly for residents while protecting the surrounding area and maintaining its quiet atmosphere. Residents are invited to participate and share their ideas. Representatives from the Village’s Planning & Zoning Division will be in attendance to answer questions.
Village staffers say that the goal of the proposed Old Cutler Neighborhood Commercial District is to guide and shape development that contributes to the creation of a unique sense of place and vitality. The proposed land development code changes seek to protect the surrounding residential areas and the existing low-intensity commercial uses.
Mayor Karyn Cunningham explained the importance of the meeting.
“As the village continues to plan for the future, we are inviting our residents to join us at a second interactive workshop to talk about the Old Cutler Neighborhood Commercial District,” Mayor Cunningham said. “This is a work in progress, and we will be garnering more input and sharing ideas for proposed zoning changes to the commercial area at Old Cutler Road and SW 168th Street. The character of the Old Cutler neighborhood has a unique sense of place for many reasons, and it is my goal to maintain the fabric of this historic and environmentally sensitive area.”
Anyone who wishes to provide public content but cannot attend the meeting may do so by using the online comment form found at https://www.palmettobay-fl.gov/formcenter/public-comments-form-10/public-comments-form-52.

The in-person meeting will take place at Village Hall, located at 9705 E. Hibiscus St., Palmetto Bay 33157, on Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 6 to 7 p.m.
