Palmer Trinity School honors local veterans at breakfast

Palmer Trinity School hosted veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces on Friday, Nov. 10, for a special ceremony and breakfast to honor their service.

Performances by the Palmer Trinity School band, choir and dancers touched many in attendance at the event conducted in recognition of Veterans Day on Nov. 11.

Vietnam veteran Dexter Lehtinen spoke to the student body about his experiences with the physical and psychological ramifications of war, as well as the importance of honoring and respecting those who have fought to protect our country.

After the ceremony, veterans were invited to a special breakfast where they were again honored for their years of service. U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Miami-Dade commissioners Jose “Pepe” Diaz and Daniela Levine Cava, as well as Miami-Dade School Board chair Larry Feldman, were in attendance.
