The first meeting of the Palmetto Bay Garden Club’s fall and winter season will take place on September 26 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the second floor Edward and Arlene Feller Community Room of the Ludovici Park Library, which is located at 17641 Old Cutler Rd. The meetings are normally scheduled for the fourth Tuesday of each month and are open to the public, so members, their guests and newcomers are all welcome.
Troy Henderson, an active member of the club and an admin on the group’s Facebook page, is glad the meetings will be starting again. When asked about the recent summer-long heat wave
and its effects on gardening plants, he was upbeat.
“I’m not aware of any particular problems associated with the heat other than many tend to have more pronounced wilting issues in the afternoon if there’s no rain,” said Henderson.
“They all seem to recover fairly quickly once the sun is off them.”
An educational group, the purpose of the club is to promote good gardening and to beautify the open spaces within Palmetto Bay. The group has done special projects at Coral Reef Park, Palmetto Bay Park, the library, and other village locations.
