According to a report from Marc Stein, the Phoenix Suns rejected a trade proposal which would’ve seen Rui Hachimura be sent off to Phoenix in exchange for Jae Crowder.

The Suns asking price for Crowder is to have a starting caliber player in return. However, this is a baffling decision on the Suns’ part as Hachimura is a promising young forward (24 years old) that is capable of starting given the right situation. What makes this decision even more confusing is the fact they are in desperate need for another wing player since Crowder (32 years old) has opted to not play for the franchise.

Despite starting in his first two seasons Hachimura’s role with the Wizards has diminished to a role off the bench. On the season Hachimura is averaging 11.6 points per game, 4.8 rebounds, while shooting for 48.1% from field goal and 33.3% from the arch in just 23.5 minutes of play. It goes without saying that Hachimura would be a solid contributor to a contending team regardless of what role he has.
