The pandemic has changed our way of life forever. For me, it showed me the true strength of the team at Community Health of South Florida, Inc (CHI). I recall last year when I spoke during a huddle with our staff about to begin COVID-19 testing. As I tried to encourage them during these difficult times for all of us, I was overcome with emotion. They were here putting it all on the line to help the people of South Florida. With the unknown at the time of this new virus it meant they were sacrificing so much, their own health, their families and more. It was in that moment I felt more pride than I can recall as the CHI team led the way with testing and then telehealth and eventually vaccinations.
But that’s what we do here at CHI. We assess the landscape for healthcare, seek out deficiencies and then solve them. Its certainly the case with our plans for a new Children’s Crisis Center. We are currently constructing a state of the art, 11,400 square foot, 24 hour in-patient facility for children with severe mental health issues. It will be the first of its kind in South Dade and desperately needed. Right now there are families with no where to turn for their kids in crisis. Beds are limited at other crisis units for kids and we have to do better. We will do better for the next generation and I am grateful for all of the community support to push this project to fruition. If you would like to be part of the solution you can donate on our website at chisouthfl.org/give or call (305)252-4853.
Fifty years of service is monumental! We want you to celebrate with us as we reflect on our accomplishments and the path forward. On September 25th we will host our Golden Gala at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel at 7pm. This is an event you don’t want to miss so please buy a ticket or a sponsorship to join us at chisouthfl.org/gala. Our history is rich, important and fascinating. You will learn more about our growth at the gala and we will send you home with a book chronicling the 50 years of service.
As President of this great organization, I am excited about the future for CHI and its patients. Together we will continue to do big things.
Sincerely,
Blake Hall
