As we approach the holiday season, the Miami Gardens Police
Department encourages you to take some time to unwind and reconnect with your loved ones, all while keeping your family’s safety
a top priority.
The Miami Gardens PD has been actively engaged in various programs and initiatives throughout the second half of this year, including Councilman Leon’s Karaoke in the Gardens. This event is one of the City’s largest community gatherings.
HERE ARE SOME ESSENTIAL TIPS AND UPDATES
ON PUBLIC SAFETY DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON:
- It’s essential to be vigilant and monitor the safety of your children. Watch for suspicious persons around you, wherever you travel, to prevent potential kidnapping.
- To deter porch pirates, take advantage of package tracking, install a video doorbell, use Amazon lockers for package delivery, consider a porch lockbox, require a signature on delivery, or consider purchasing a mailbox sensor.
- When it comes to cyber safety for online shopping, remember to use a credit card or verified payment service, shop exclusively on secure websites that you trust, keep your software up to date, use strong passwords, avoid clicking on unfamiliar links, and skip optional fields to protect your personal information.
- For those planning to head somewhere out of town this holiday season, arrange to have your mail and newspapers held or stored by a trusted neighbor, set your lights on a timer, move your car, adjust your A/C and heating system, turn off the water, adjust your shades, lock up, pay your bills in advance, and notify your home alarm company for added security.
- Should you ever require police assistance, there are several ways to reach the Miami Gardens Police Department. You can call 911 for emergencies or contact the non emergency number at 305-474-6473. Reporting in person at the station, making an online police report, or submitting an anonymous tip via Crime Stoppers are also available options.
