In the pulsating heart of South Miami, a tech revolution quietly brews, led by the visionary duo Gianni D’Alerta and Ralph Quintero, co-founders of Purple Horizons. With the city’s tech scene predominantly clustered in Brickell, Wynwood, and Downtown, this innovative pair saw an untapped potential in South Miami, a locale rich with tech leaders, universities, and burgeoning talent, ready to be kindled into a thriving tech community.
Gianni, a perpetual tinkerer, and Ralph, a seasoned entrepreneur, both Miami natives and lifelong tech pioneers, envisioned Purple Horizons as more than a think tank. It’s a community, a movement aimed at exploring and shaping the technological landscape of the future, particularly the innovations that will redefine our world in the next 5 to 10 years.
Ralph encapsulates their ethos succinctly: “When technology is about to fundamentally change an industry or the world, we call that a ‘Purple Horizon.’” This concept is exemplified by how Netflix revolutionized media consumption, rendering DVDs obsolete, or how Amazon redefined e-commerce and logistics.
Purple Horizons is not merely gazing at today’s tech but is fervently peering into the future, identifying and exploring those “Purple Horizons” that hold the potential to reshape industries and our daily lives.
In an effort to spread Miami’s tech buzz to South Miami, Purple Horizons hosts “Tech Tuesday” at Bougainvillea (Bougies) Old Florida Tavern on the first Tuesday of every month, with the next rendezvous on November 7th, from 6-9 pm. These events are more than just casual meet-ups; they’re the places where new ideas catch fire, partnerships take shape, and the tech leaders of tomorrow come to life.
Gianni reflects, “People often fixate on Downtown and Wynwood, overlooking South Miami’s unique position as a convenient crossroads. Purple Horizons is leveraging this to create a local tech hub that’s easy to access. No need to chase tech trends downtown; we’re bringing them to you”
This initiative is not just about fostering a tech community but also about ensuring that Miami, in its entirety, is recognized as a serious contender on the global tech stage. It’s about ensuring that the tech movements permeate throughout Miami, reaching every potential innovator where they are.
