Miami Dade College Homestead Campus is pleased to announce an exhibition of paintings by Marie Ferraro. Stop by the campus before September 9th to catch a rare glimpse into this underappreciated talent’s beautiful lush color and unprecedented brushwork.
Marie Ferraro is a painter’s painter in the truest sense of the word. Many artists come to the tradition of painting later in life. So is the case with Ferraro. In 2014 after a successful career in a different field, she began concentrating on making art. She told me that she doesn’t do anything by half measures and wanted to be able to devote all of her attention to her new passion. That passion is on full display in these 19 paintings.
A few standout pictures include Palm with a portrait of my brother, Matissian plant, Blackwaters, and Snowfall on city hill. These paintings demonstrate the broad range of techniques mastered by Ferraro. Like David Smith, who would dabble in many different styles throughout his career, Ferraro is comfortable jumping between watercolor, acrylic, and oil without hesitation.
The Gallery in Building D is open from 8 A.M. – 8 P.M. Monday through Friday, and 9 A.M. – 3 P.M. on Saturdays.
