Commissioner Roberto J. Gonzalez is running for re-election as the Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 11, and Miami’s Community Newspapers is proud to endorse him. Appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis in November 2022, Gonzalez has already demonstrated the enthusiasm and attention to detail that District 11 needs and deserves.

But what really stands out is that he is the only County Commission candidate to ever qualify for District 11 via the voters’ signatures. Within but a few weeks, the Roberto Gonzalez campaign received over 1,800 signatures from residents petitioning for him to be on the ballot.

This comes as little surprise as Commissioner Gonzalez is a leader in his local community, always ensuring the voices of his constituents are heard at County Hall. He is well-informed, exhibiting integrity and a solid understanding of what is important to his constituents, making him the best-suited candidate for District 11.

Born in Guatemala, Gonzalez legally emigrated to the United States with his parents at the age of two. Growing up in Miami, he has been a resident since 1990 and became a U.S. citizen on April 30, 2014. Gonzalez is a product of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, graduating from Miami Coral Park Senior High School in 2005. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from Saint Thomas University and a Juris Doctor degree from Saint Thomas University School of Law. He became a member of the Florida Bar in 2015.

Before joining the Board of County Commissioners, Gonzalez was the founding partner of PereGonza The Attorneys PLLC and served as Secretary of the Republican Party of Miami-Dade’s Executive Committee.

Since taking office, Gonzalez has focused on improving the quality of life for the West Kendall community. His platform includes maintaining public safety, opposing tax increases, securing resources to enhance parks and public transportation, protecting individual liberties and small businesses, and implementing solutions to ease traffic problems. He also supports school choice and maximizing taxpayer resources for education.

Miami’s Community Newspapers recommends Roberto Gonzalez for Miami-Dade County Seat 11. His proven leadership and commitment to his community make him the ideal candidate to continue serving District 11.
