Running for election to City Commission Group II : Rhonda Anderson
Rhonda Anderson

Rhonda Anderson is running for election to the Group II seat of the Coral Gables City Commission in the Apr. 13 municipal election.

Born and raised in Miami, she moved to Coral Gables in 1987 after meeting her husband, Eddie Anderson, a Coral Gables resident since 1955 and a graduate from Coral Gables High School.

“On my first day in office I will establish Rhonda’s Residents Advisory Panel (RRAP). The purpose of RRAP is to ensure that all residents can regularly share and brainstorm ideas with me on how to make the City of Coral Gables a better place to live and city leaders accessible and transparent to residents. RRAP will meet on a monthly basis with me to direct my priorities. Any resident can also meet with me during my bi-weekly office hours or by special appointment.

“I have chosen to run to ensure that the voice of the residents is patiently heard and respectfully represented in our city; not forgotten the day after the election. While the first 100 days of being a commissioner is routinely filled with addressing the critical issue of next year’s city budget and selecting board appointees for the boards and committees, RRAP meetings will ensure that I will hear the residents’ concerns after the election is over.

“My long wish list of the top issues on most residents’ minds — density of development, traffic speed, public safety, revitalizing our local businesses and sustainability — are on-going issues that extend well beyond the first 100 days. My first priority will always be to provide all residents a welcome environment to participate, be heard and have their valuable ideas used to improve our city. During my service, the residents will always come first.”

Anderson was a founding member of the LeJeune Segovia Neighborhood Association (LSNA), served on the Coral Gables Public Safety Commission to promote improvements to police presence and coverage, served on the Coral Gables Sustainability Advisory Board, and on the Coral Gables Planning and Zoning Board.
