Running for election to City Commission Group III : Kirk Menendez
Kirk Menendez

Kirk Menendez is running for election to the Group III seat of the Coral Gables City Commission in the Apr. 13 municipal election.

Menendez is a civic activist and lifetime resident of the City of Coral Gables.

“During my first 100 days in office, I plan to carry out the following:

1. Make certain all of our homebound seniors are able to receive the COVID vaccine as soon as supplies are made available to the city using a door-to-door outreach program.

2. Propose a series of Town Hall meetings to discuss how the city government can improve its communication with residents and to discuss how to further streamline and expedite city services and response times across the board.

3. Request that the city more aggressively acquire green space throughout the city for future neighborhood parks, including much needed dog parks.

4. Significantly expand the trolley and “freebie ride” services to encourage and facilitate residents visiting, shopping and dining on Miracle Mile and the city’s Downtown area. We cannot continue to depend mostly on tourists to help sustain our Downtown economy. We need to bring our residents back into the fold. Plus, it will greatly help resolve some of the current parking concerns.

5. Work closely with our police department to enhance our neighborhood watch program citywide.

6. Propose the creation of a residents panel with representation from each area of the city to meet on a Quarterly basis to discuss issues and help find solutions to concerns impacting each of our neighborhoods.”
