Miami Autism Dad Victor Antunez interviews Harry Horgan, co-founder and president of Shake-A-Leg Miami. Paralyzed in a car accident at 22, Horgan found the thing that changed his life on a Colorado ski slope, a few seconds flying downhill where he forgot he was disabled. He’s spent 36 years since handing that same feeling to other people on the water. From a 1932 Coast Guard hangar on Biscayne Bay, Shake-A-Leg Miami now serves more than 8,800 people a year, kids with autism, veterans, and families, on a fleet of sailboats and kayaks where the wheelchair on the dock stops mattering the moment the sail fills. It’s a conversation about a man who chose to live all the way in the body he has, and spent his life making sure others could too.
