Miami-Dade County School Board vice chair Monica Colucci hosted her second annual “Evening with the Stars” award ceremony on Apr. 30. The event spotlighted the outstanding students from District 8 who achieved excellence in academics, citizenship, athletics, and the performing arts.
This year’s event, attended by more than 700 people, also featured the debut of the Rising Star award, created by Colucci to recognize graduating seniors who exemplify academic achievement, leadership, character, and have had an impact within their schools and communities. These students demonstrate not only excellence in the classroom but also inspire others through their service, integrity, and vision for the future.
“Our students are what I call super stars,” Colucci said during her address. “You are shining brighter than ever tonight! Tonight, is all about you. We celebrate your hard work and dedication. We celebrate your citizenship and service to others. We celebrate your unique talents and abilities.”
Parents, educators, and community members joined in support of the honorees, who represent the best of District 8. The “Evening with the Stars” continues to grow each year, building a legacy of celebration and inspiration for students and families across the district.
