‘Tis the season at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center (SMDCAC) as two joyful holiday shows are on deck to delight audiences this December.

The Nutcracker, presented by SMDCAC and the Miami Youth Ballet, takes to the main stage Saturday, Dec. 4, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m. The performance will be followed by South Florida’s favorite holiday tradition, “A Seraphic Fire Christmas,” returning for its 19th season on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 4 p.m.

The Nutcracker, Dec. 4 and 5

It wouldn’t be Christmas without the enchanting dance story of a little girl and her Nutcracker Prince, who overcome the malevolent Mouse King to journey to a fantastical Land of Sweets.

Professional ballet stars join a cast of over 100 talented young dancers in Miami Youth Ballet’s (MYB) beloved annual production choreographed by former Miami City Ballet stars Marielena Mencia and Yanis Pikieris. With dazzling costumed characters and, of course, Tchaikovsky’s beautiful score, this classic ballet is a perfect holiday spectacle for children and adults alike.

Tickets for The Nutcracker are available by visiting www.smdcac.org/.

All patrons entering the theater require a ticket regardless of age — including children and infants. Outside food and beverages are not allowed inside the venue. Strollers are not permitted inside the auditorium. Active military and group (10+) discounts available. Contact the SMDCAC Box Office for details.

Bass, “A Seraphic Fire Christmas” promises to be a joyful celebration of the holiday season, as singers will serenade audiences with classics like Silent Night and Jesus Christ the Apple Tree, along with new favorites. Entering its third decade, this beloved Grammy-nominated vocal ensemble has become one of South Florida’s most important performing arts organizations with a national reputation for choral music excellence.
