The Miami-Dade 2022 Solar Co-op has selected Cutler Bay Solar Solutions to install solar panels for the 149-member group. Co-op members selected Cutler Bay Solar Solutions through a competitive bidding process over five other firms.

“Miami-Dade County is partnering with Solar United Neighbors of Florida to bring solar energy access to residents’ homes and businesses,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “Co-op members have selected a local company as a preferred installer, helping to grow our regional blue-green economy.

“Through innovative partnerships, we’re working to advance renewable energy and green technologies across the county and encourage all residents to consider going solar today,” the mayor added.

“It is an honor to be selected, once again, to share the many benefits of rooftop solar with Miami-Dade residents and solar co-op members. We look forward to another successful co-op and helping more people go solar by providing quality service at a good value,” said Raul Vergara, owner of Cutler Bay Solar Solutions.

Solar United Neighbors expands access to solar by educating Miami-Dade County residents about the benefits of distributed solar energy, helping them organize group solar installations, and strengthening Miami-Dade County solar policies and its community of solar supporters.

Co-op members selected Cutler Bay Solar Solutions based on pricing, equipment, warranty and experience.

“After visiting a past co-op member participant to see their installation, my wife and I were confident in our decision to go solar,” said Dave Rivera, member of the Miami-Dade 2022 Solar Co-op. “I was impressed by how the vendor-neutral team at Solar United Neighbors guided co-op members through a highly technical installer selection process and turned it into an easy and understandable experience to help the group make an informed decision.”

The co-op is open to new members until Aug. 31, 2022. Miami-Dade County residents interested in joining the co-op can sign up at solarunitedneighbors.org/miami-dade.

The solar co-op is free to join and joining the co-op is not a commitment to purchase panels. Cutler Bay Solar Solutions will provide each co-op member with an individualized proposal based on the group rate. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, members can save on the cost of going solar and have the support of fellow group members and solar experts at Solar United Neighbors.

SUN has hosted 73 solar co-ops in Florida since 2015. According to the group’s estimates, the 2,155 homes and businesses that now have solar panels because of co-ops represent: 21 thousand kW of solar power, $49.4 million in local solar spending, and more than 717 million lbs. of lifetime carbon offsets.

Solar United Neighbors is a nonprofit organization that works in Florida and nationwide to represent the needs and interests of solar owners and supporters. Solar co-ops are part of the organization’s mission to create a new energy system with rooftop solar at the cornerstone. Solar United Neighbors holds events and education programs to help people become informed solar consumers, maximize the value of their solar investment, and advocate for fair solar policies.
