Stay informed with bi-weekly Mobility Matters video podcast

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

As our video podcast Mobility Matters enters another year, I want to encourage all readers of Miami’s Community Newspapers and, in fact, all residents of Miami-Dade to watch this most informative program.

A collaborative effort between the Citizens’ Independent Transportation Trust (CITT) and Miami’s Community Newspapers, Mobility Matters brings viewers useful information about transit and transportation, new developments and insights on Miami-Dade’s evolving transportation infrastructure, and other intersecting issues, such as land use and development, workforce housing, economic development, resiliency, etc.

Mobility Matters takes an informative look at local and county transit and transportation issues and how they impact our residents. Among other things, we’ve covered:
• The county’s SMART Plan for the future of transit;
• South Dade Bus Rapid Transit;
• Baylink and Metromover to Miami Beach;
• Tri-Rail and Brightline connections in Northeast Miami-Dade;
• The Flagler Street dedicated bus lanes;
• Accessibility for all;
• The Underline, bike paths and walking trails;
• Municipal trolleys and on-demand ride-share services;
• Miami-Dade County’s resiliency efforts, and
• Providing riders’ views by becoming a CITT Ambassador.

We are grateful to all the community leaders and high-profile guests who have shared their thoughts with our audience, including Miami-Dade County Commissioners Juan Carlos Bermudez, Eileen Higgins, Raquel Regalado and Micky Steinberg.

Officials from the county’s Transportation and Public Works Department informed us of ongoing enhancements in public transit and about making accessibility to transit available to all members of our community.

We featured economic development issues and our working relationship with our partners in municipalities.

And we want to hear from you. If you would like us to cover a specific transit or transportation topic, please contact us via enaill at CITT@miamidade.gov.

Mobility Matters airs every other Thursday between 9 and 10 a.m. View the podcast on our Facebook page at
Facebook.com/TransportationTrust.

You can also visit www.miamidade.gov/CITT to learn more about our organization’s ongoing efforts to oversee your “half-penny” sales tax for transportation and ensure the continued implementation of the People’s Transportation Plan.

Javier A. Betancourt is Executive Director, Citizens’ Independent Transportation Trust.
