Summer brings outdoor activities to village’s Thalatta Estate Park

The Village of Palmetto Bay’s Thalatta Estate Park, located on Biscayne Bay, will be the site of two outdoor events that offer residents who have been cooped up during the pandemic a chance to get for some fresh air, sunshine and exercise.

First, on Sunday, July 18, will be the recurring activity Yoga by the Bay, featuring instructor Maria Luisa Tovio. The class runs from 9:30 to 11 a.m. for ages 15 and older, with all levels welcome. Cost is $5 (plus convenience fee).

“Gentle yoga will explore a variety of breathing, energizing, restorative, meditation and relaxation practices.”

Then, on Aug. 28, from 9 to 11 a.m., Family Kayak Adventures, hosted by Nature Postings, will return for fun and exploration on the water. Participants can learn the basic techniques of kayaking and paddling.

These kayak tours welcome all ages and promotes an educational environment that is fun for the whole family. This activity features a two-hour guided tour around Biscayne Bay, learning about the mangroves and the ecosystems found in South Florida.
