Zoo Miami Foundation is offering active, educational fun at summer camp for kids as young as 3 and as old as 15 from June through August.
Camp Little Critter is for preschoolers ages 3-4 from June 17 to Aug. 2, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Kids, ages 5-12, can join the fun at Summer Camp from June 7 to Aug. 14, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Teens, ages 13-15, can take part in Teen Careers Camp from June 10 to July 26.
Introduce little ones to the excitement of Camp Little Critter and the wonders of wildlife with this new half-day camp experience specifically designed for children ages 3 and 4.
Little Critters will have a blast exploring the zoo with camp staff as their guides, engaging in hands-on activities related to the theme, making new friends, learning new skills, and discovering the amazing animals around them.
A fun-filled, educational summer camp for kids ages 5-12 is designed to immerse them in wildlife through animal encounters, interactions with zookeepers, exciting games, and the creation of special treats for zoo animals. Weekly themed interactive presentations involve learning about living fossils, different ecosystems, animal adaptations, ectotherms and more.
Teen Careers Camp is for teens ages 13-15 who want to learn about the different careers available to them at a zoo. Everyone’s heard of zookeepers, but what about behavioral specialists, conservation researchers, veterinarians, and animal chefs? After a week full of exclusive hands-on experiences and behind-the-scenes adventures, teens are sure to discover what they want to be when they grow up.
“Every day at zoo summer camp is a new adventure. We invite kids of all ages to spend the summer exploring and learning about the flora and fauna that surround us at Zoo Miami and in our backyards,” said camp manager Daniele Notarnicola.
All camps take place at Zoo Miami, 12400 SW 152 St., Miami, FL 33177. Free extended care is available until 5:30 p.m. for elementary school children and teens, but not for Camp Little Critter participants. Pre-registration is required, and space is limited. Pricing varies per camp and Zoo Miami Foundation members save 20 oercent off.
