An art exhibit featuring the work of local artist Juan “Frank” Miranda had been scheduled by ArtSouth Miami and the Village of Palmetto Bay for Jan. 15, but the decision was made by ArtSouth officials on Jan. 3 to postpone the exhibit due to the recent surge in COVID-19 Omicron Variant cases which are at record levels.

As part of their ongoing program to support local artists, ArtSouth and the Village of Palmetto Bay have provided an opportunity for area artists to promote and exhibit their work. Previous exhibits at the Perrine Community House had been popular and well attended, but had been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A virtual exhibit had been done online, and one outdoor exhibit took place at the Farmers Market in Coral Reef Park, but this was to be the first event to return to the village landmark Perrine Community House.

Beatriz Hermann of ArtSouth is working with the Village of Palmetto Bay as she has before for the joint exhibitions. She was disappointed by the delay but is hopeful that the pandemic conditions will improve.

“Under the circumstances we are postponing the event until Feb. 19,” Hermann said.

The rescheduled exhibit, titled, “Juan ‘Frank’ Miranda’s Mentors & Friends,” still will take place at Perrine Community House, 900 Perrine Ave., from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Children are welcome.
