The City of North Miami Beach, Commissioner Michael Joseph, & Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson will present a Juneteenth Step Show & Drumline Competition

The City of North Miami Beach, Commissioner Michael Joseph, and Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson will present an inaugural Juneteenth Step Show & Drumline Competition. The celebration will take place at the Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater (located at 17051 NE 19th Ave, North Miami Beach, FL 33162) on Saturday, June 18th, 2022, starting at 6 p.m.

This year’s inaugural Juneteenth Step Show & Drumline Competition will be themed as a Juneteenth University: “How We Built This.” University fraternities and sororities will compete for a chance to win a first, second, and third place prize. The first place winner will receive $3000, second place will receive $2000, and third place will receive $1000. The event will be hosted by Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell, Miami-based rapper, record executive, actor, and leader of the award-winning, rap group 2 Live Crew.  

The City of North Miami Beach understands the importance of commemorating the emancipation of African Americans in the United States during Juneteenth Freedom Week 2022. This event will also highlight HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) culture through the Step Show & Drumline Competition which are traditions embedded into HBCU life.
