The Deering Estate continues Charles Deering’s legacy of art patronage by supporting emerging and mid-career artists who work in a multitude of disciplines and media. The prestigious and competitive Artist in Residence Program is a direct extension of this legacy and acts as an incubator for creative ideas, unique experiences, and collaborative opportunities that engage the public.
Deering Estate has selected John William Bailly to return for a two-year Artist in Residence Fellowship. Bailly has been invited as previous Artist in Residence and will continue to engage with the Deering Estate through a series of planned lectures with guest speakers and artists, take-over tours and events in and out of his studio that will enhance and compliment the Deering Estate’s cultural programming.

Artist in Residence Program
The Artist in Residence program currently welcomes professional Visual, Performing, and Literary Artists who are self-motivated and focused. The primary basis for selection of our artists is the strength and quality of the applicant’s work as well as a clear objective for the time of their residency. Both Studio Residencies and Non-Studio Project Residencies are available and are competitively selected through a jury process using leading professionals from our family of galleries, collaborative arts, and cultural organizations. We have had the privilege of presenting and collaborating with internationally acclaimed artists, composers, musicians, playwrights, authors, and performers.
