“Must-see” program features artist in residence Yanis Eric Pikieris’ latest work, “Arcadia,” and Jorge Garcia’s iconic “Majisimo”
Keeping dance at the forefront over the summer months, the Dennis C. Moss Cultural Arts Center proudly presents Kaleidoscope, an all-new performance by Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami (DDTM) on Saturday, July 13 at 8 p.m. Tickets are available here.
The company’s collaborative and inspiring performance of Kaleidoscope opens the Moss Center’s 2024 season, which features a spectacular array of shows, concerts, and family events. Promising to heat up the stage with an evening of grace and artistry, the July program showcases an all-new program of electrifying dance, including the premiere of Artist in Residence Yanis Eric Pikieris’ latest work, Arcadia, and Jorge García’s iconic and beautiful piece, Majísimo.
Born in Miami to parents Marielena Mencia and Yanis Pikieris, both principal dancers with Miami City Ballet, the young Pikieris started his training at Miami Youth Ballet, went on to study at Miami City Ballet School, and then to the Charlotte Ballet. He was asked to join DDTM in November 2016 and has been with the company since.
A product of the renowned Ballet Nacional de Cuba, choreographer Jorge García’s Majísimo masterfully displays the finesse and power of Cuban ballet. Audiences will cheer this stunning escapade of virtuosity in his powerful classical ballet, which finds inspiration in Spanish classical dance traditions.
Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami is led by the immensely talented team of Carlos Guerra and Jennifer Kronenberg, who served as principal dancers for the Miami City Ballet. The company has an ongoing partnership with the Moss Center to unite the community through affordable professional performances and further its mission to make world-class dance available to all through youth classes, educational presentations, and after-school workshops.
Adept at exploring collaborative avenues distinct in their reflection of South Florida, Guerra and Kronenberg offer audiences a fresh and diverse view of ballet through their direction of DDTM. The two are immensely skilled at identifying and introducing new choreographers to Miami audiences, and this program is no exception. Kaleidoscope showcases the troupe’s impressive athleticism and highlights the timeless, transcendent power of dance.
Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami’s Kaleidoscope is recommended for all ages. Patrons entering the theater require a ticket, regardless of age. Ticket prices for this performance range from $25 to $45. Tickets may be purchased by visiting MossCenter.org, through the Moss Center Box Office in person, or by calling (786) 573-5300.
