A prominent group of pediatric pulmonologists has joined KIDZ Medical Services (KIDZ), a physician-owned healthcare organization that
provides pediatric, neonatal, and obstetrical care in seven counties in Florida.
The three physicians who comprise the Pediatric Pulmonology Group of South Florida, Antonio Rodríguez, M.D., María Franco, M.D. and Alicia Della Volpe, M.D., are double board- certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Rodríguez, who co-founded the practice in 1985 with the late Moises Simpser, M.D, is the Director of the Division of Pulmonology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (NCH). He completed his residency at Miami Children’s Hospital, precursor to NCH, and did his fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
Dr. Franco currently serves as President of the Medical Staff at NCH. She completed her residency at Allegheny University Hospitals and fellowship at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. Since 2017, Dr. Franco has served as Medical Director of the Dr. Moises Simpser VACC Camp for ventilator-assisted children and their families, which has been directed by the practice since its founding in 1986. Additionally, she serves as the Medical Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center at NCH, a newborn screening center for cystic fibrosis; it is an accredited affiliate of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Dr. Della Volpe did her residency at Rhode Island Hospital and fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital. She has additional qualifications in neonatology and special interests in the neonatal and pediatric intensive care patient population.
“We are pleased to welcome Drs. Rodríguez, Franco and Della Volpe to KIDZ Medical. This merger further strengthens the pulmonary team at KIDZ Medical and our ability to serve the communities in Miami-Dade, Broward and Collier counties,” said Wayne Brackin, CEO of KIDZ Medical.
