The Town of Cutler Bay traditionally has a Halloween costume contest each year, but with 2020’s COVID-19 restrictions the town has adapted and will have a virtual Halloween costume contest instead.
The contest is open to Cutler Bay residents of all ages. All town residents are invited to dress up in their best costumes and share photos with the town for a chance to win a $100 gift card.
One grand prize winner for each category will be awarded. Costume categories are as follows:
● Infants to 3 years
● 4 to 7 years
● 8 to 11 years
● 12 to 15 years
● 16 years and older
● Pets
To enter, residents must complete the form at www.cutlerbay-fl.gov/parksrec/webform/halloween-virtual-costume-contest and upload up to five images of themselves in costume no later than Sunday, Oct. 25. Only one costume per entry will be considered (no group entries).
How winners will be selected.
The town panel of judges will select the top three entries for each category. Photo submissions will be judged based on the following judging criteria, weighted equally:
● Costume quality (25 percent)
● Costume craftsmanship (25 percent)
● Originality (25 percent)
● Innovative use of materials (25 percent)
The photos for the top three in each category will then be uploaded to the Town’s Facebook page for the public to vote. The photo in each category that receives the most “likes” will be named the winner of the category.
To vote, go to the town’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/townofcutlerbay and “like” the photo of your favorite costume in the “Halloween Virtual Costume Contest” album. Voting will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 27 and will end by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29. Votes will not be counted past the cut-off time.
Winners will be announced on Friday, Oct. 30.
