With 14 0f 14 precincts reporting, Suzy Lord received 1,946 votes or 60.38 percent of the 3,223 votes cast and Jose Rodriguez received 1,277 votes or 39.62 percent. “I am very happy to have won this election and am grateful to all of those who voted for me,” Lord said in a interview following the election. “I was pleased by the amount of support I received from not only good friends but from neighbors whom I have yet to meet, but look forward to doing so.

“Together we will lead this town with a fresh perspective, focusing on the town’s youth and supporting our town’s veteran community,” she said. “As the daughter of a Vietnam veteran and career military policeman, the veteran community is an important issue for me. I will lead with heart and integrity, and with respect for Cutler Bay and our neighbors.”

Lord was sworn in by her son, Shawn Wechsler, in the Town Council Chambers.
Callahan was sworn in by his son, Connor. With more than 62 percent of the 20,109 votes that were cast for that seat, Callahan held a large lead over candidates Sean Salazar (26 percent) and David Zoll (11 percent). Callahan served as Cutler Bay’s Council Seat 2 member from 2016 until assuming his new role as vice mayor.
