One of the village’s most popular annual events is returning at the end of October. It’s the Halloween Trick-Or-Treat and Movie Night, with spooky activities for the entire family.
Parks and Recreation director Fanny Carmona said she is looking forward to the event and commented on its popularity.

“We will have our event on Saturday the 28th at Coral Reef Park from 6 to 9 p.m.,” Carmona said. “Turnout is usually around 800 to 1,000 people.”

The Trick-Or-Treat portion of the evening will allow children to gather candy and other goodies in a safe environment and avoid walking through neighborhoods in the dark. Movie Night will feature a Halloween themed film that will be determined by the vote of residents from among three spooky contenders.

The three films under consideration are:
Haunted Mansion
This second and all new version of the first Disney film was inspired by the famous Haunted Mansion theme park ride in Disneyland and Disney World. It stars LaKeith Stanfield, Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Danny DeVito, Jamie Lee Curtis and others. It’s about a mother and son who are trying to get rid of the mansion’s resident ghosts and enlist the aid of an odd team of paranormal experts to help them in their quest.

Hocus Pocus 2
In this sequel to the first Disney movie starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, Sam Richardson, Doug Jones, Hannah Waddingham and others. Midler, Parker and Najimy portray 17th Century witches, the Sanderson sisters, who were banished and return, looking for revenge. Three high-school students have to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.

The Munsters
This new film directed by horror movie director Rob Zombie is an affectionate albeit quirky look back at the classic 1960s television series that serves as a prequel explaining how Herman Munster, Lily and “Grandpa,” a Transylvanian-American family, came to live at 1313 Mockingbird Lane in the fictional city of Mockingbird Heights. It stars Sheri Moon Zombie, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Daniel Roebuck, Richard Brake, Jorge Garcia, Sylvester McCoy, Catherine Schell and Cassandra Peterson (aka “Elvira”).

The movies are usually projected on a large inflated screen and park staffers recommend bringing folding chairs or blankets to sit on in the field in front of the park. Coral Reef Park is located at 7895 SW 152 St.
